  • Why Georgia? Texas, California, Florida, Virginia and Georgia have the highest number of homeless female veterans.

  • Studies via VA research showed that in 2018 & 2019 homeless increased by 2% for female veterans while decreasing for male veterans.

  • According to Government Accountability office (GA022-105360), pub Sept 8, 2022, as the number of female veterans has grown to about 2 million in FY 2021, so has the concerns about homelessness, in which female veterans make up about 13% of vets served through Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF).

  • In 2021, 19,750 veterans were homeless. The Research also found that 40% of homeless female veterans have dependents. These reports are only those counted in transitional housing or shelters.

  • According to a survey that was completed June 14th 2023 with 1,000 females Vets, 61% reported experiencing military sexual trauma, but only 35% had it noted in their medial records. (Www.research.va.gov)

  • When vets are asked to describe downward spiral, trauma is predominantly involved, whether childhood, substance abuse, rape, relationship issues, military sexual trauma, intimate partner violence, medical problems, PTSD, and being unemployable.
